Suggs out, streak ends at 105 games

BALTIMORE (AP) Linebacker Terrell Suggs is missing his first NFL game after being placed on the Baltimore Ravens' inactive list Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Suggs sustained a right knee injury on an illegal block by Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn in Monday's victory over the Browns. He was ruled out of the game earlier in the week, ending his run of 105 straight games. He will be replaced by rookie Paul Kruger.

Baltimore's other inactives are running backs Matt Lawrence and Jalen Parmele; offensive tackles Oneil Cousins and Tony Moll; and defensive tackles Brandon McKinney and Kelly Tavalou. John Beck was the Ravens' third quarterback.

Redskins backup RB Betts gets hurt

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Washington Redskins running back Ladell Betts, the fill-in for injured Clinton Portis, has been knocked out of the Dallas game because of a left knee injury.

Betts apparently got hurt on a hard tackle by Bradie James at the end of a 2-yard gain midway through the first quarter Sunday. Team trainers checked Betts' knee on the sideline, and a few minutes later it was announced he was out for the game. The extent of the injury wasn't immediately known. Read More...

Browns WR Cribbs active for Lions game

DETROIT (AP) Josh Cribbs is active for the Cleveland Browns against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, less than a week after he was strapped to a backboard and wheeled into an ambulance.

Cribbs had said he expected to play despite a sore neck after Baltimore's Dawn Edwards hit his chin on Monday night. Read More...

Saints' Bush, Ellis out vs. Buccaneers

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Running back Reggie Bush and defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis are not traveling with the New Orleans Saints for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay.

Holmgren interested in Browns

CLEVELAND (AP) Former Seattle and Green Bay coach Mike Holmgren is interested in working for the struggling Cleveland Browns.

Holmgren said on his weekly radio show on Seattle's KJR that he has not yet spoken to Browns owner Randy Lerner, who is looking for a "serious, credible leader" football authority to run his struggling team. However, Holmgren did indicate he would welcome the chance to take on a rebuilding project like the 1-8 Browns. Read More...

Vikings CB Winfield out again

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield is inactive for his fourth straight game Sunday, against the Seattle Seahawks.

Winfield has not played since Oct. 18 because of a foot injury. He was listed as doubtful on the injury report Friday. Benny Sapp started in his place. The Vikings were also without backup defensive tackle Fred Evans, who was ill for most of the week. Read More...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Five-time Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu was inactive for Pittsburgh on Sunday because of an injury to his left knee. He was replaced by Tyrone Carter.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) San Francisco 49ers linebacker Takeo Spikes is inactive for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

Giants LB Pierce out indefinitely

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) New York Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce is out indefinitely after an MRI exam on Friday surprisingly revealed a bulging disk in his neck.

The Giants said their defensive captain underwent the test in New York and was examined by team physician Dr. Russell Warren and Dr. Frank Camissa, chief of the spinal surgical services at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Read More...

QB Orton misses third straight practice

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) Kyle Orton missed a third consecutive practice Friday because of a sprained left ankle and has only an outside chance of playing Sunday when the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers meet with first place in the AFC West on the line.

Broncos backup Chris Simms again took first-team practice repetitions, as he has all week in the absence of Orton, who was injured during last week's 27-17 loss at Washington. Read More...
